The thermal springs of Kamena Vourla

Kamena Vourla is one of the most famous tourist destinations and is the largest and most complete tourist resort of Central Greece. They have a rich tourist tradition which began in the distant years of the interwar years and specifically in 1926 when the chemist Michael Pertensis discovered the beneficial therapeutic properties of the springs of the wider area.

Specifically, it measured that the radon content of the water is unique and superior to most European springs with therapeutic properties.

Thus, a few years later and specifically in the mid-30s, the exploitation of the springs began with the construction of modern for the time luxury hotel units that, apart from providing services related to the thermal waters, offered carefree and relaxing holidays to holidaymakers.

Gradually, Kamena Vourla gained a great reputation due to the high quality of its tourist facilities, attracting internationally renowned personalities.

Until a few years ago, before the completion of the new national road, Agios Konstantinos was a passage and a favourite stop for many travellers to and from Central and Northern Greece. The picturesque square of Agios Nikolaos with its large plane trees and the open-air theatre with its cafes and some taverns was an ideal resting point before continuing the journey.

With the new highway, Agios Konstantinos has of course been freed from the thousands of cars that used to cross its small road and it is worth visiting it while relaxing in its small harbour and its beautiful square.
