The beautiful seaside town of Lake Evia is located on the western coast of northern Evia and is built amphitheatrically above the usually windless northern Evian Gulf. Perhaps it is this tranquil landscape and the excellent view of the enclosed bay that gave the name to this beautiful settlement.
If you visit Limni you will immediately understand that it has not only the name but also the grace since the small white tiled houses enjoy from almost all parts of the settlement the excellent view of the blue waters and the nearby coast of Central Greece while the green landscape that characterizes almost all of northern Evia dominates the boundaries of the settlement(unfortunately much of it was burned in the huge fire of 2021).
Lake Evia is the capital of the municipality of Elymnia and the most developed tourist area. In fact, in recent years it has evolved particularly in the field of tourism with a gentle pace of development in order to maintain unchanged its picturesque and traditional character. It is worth walking through the narrow alleys and see the neoclassical architecture of most of the houses and the bright colours with which they are painted.

But the one that will catch your attention is the coastal zone of the lake, where most people gather, whether they are tourists or residents of the settlement. There are plenty of ouzerias, taverns, cafes and bars, all by the sea, with excellent views of the Evian Gulf and the green surrounding slopes.
The coastal road is full of life and choices for all ages and tastes and is an ideal place to relax or have fun with your friends for as many hours or days as you stay in Lake Evia.
Activities near Lake Evia
If you have time and appetite, a very beautiful excursion from Limni is the one to the village of Drymonas and in particular its waterfalls . They are located at a distance of about 25 km, in the green heart of northern Evia.
The waterfall even creates in early summer a relatively large natural lake in which those who brave the icy water can enjoy a unique swim!

In addition, while you are in Lake Evia you can visit the famous and historic Byzantine nunnery of Galataki, founded in the 7th century AD! It is located at 10 km, in a wooded area with panoramic views. In addition, you can visit the Historical and Folklore Museum of the Municipality of Elymnia in the settlement.

Access and distances
Access to Lake Evia is easy and can be done in two ways. Either from the Chalkida (distance: 80 km) by road or from Edipsos (32 km)(accommodation in Edipsos), using the boat from the opposite port of Arkitsa.
On the first route you will pass from the central to the northern Evia and some of the most beautiful road spots on the island, such as the one next to the the river Kireas and its wooden bridges , while on the second route from Edipsos (staying in Edipsos) you will be constantly over the sea of North Evia on one side and the pine-clad mostly green slopes on the other.
