Access instructions
Access to Trikala Corinthia is very easy. The distance from Athens to the parking lot on the plateau of Zireia, the parking lot for the small ski slope, is only 155 km. From Athens follow the route to Patras and at the height of Xylokastro you exit the highway in the direction of Trikala Corinthia.
From Xylokastro to the district of Kato Trikala is about 25 km of uphill but comfortable route while from there to the small plateau of Zireia is only about 10 km.

Trikala Corinthia
Trikala of mountainous Corinthia consists of three districts, Kato, Mesi and Ano. The village is spread out on the slope of Zireia and there you will find many rooms to let, hotels, taverns and cafes.

In recent years they have emerged as a popular destination and because of the short distance from Athens and of course because of the beauty of the landscape offered by the slopes of the mountain range of Zireia and even more so the ascent to the plateau and the imposing peaks of the second highest mountain of the Peloponnese after Taugetos of course but above Chelmos of Achaia, the ski resort and Kalavryta.
Ziria or Kyllini
Ziria or Kyllini (2.374m) won us from our very first visit. Climbing up from Trikala, Corinthia, if you haven’t gotten a glimpse from photos, you are really impressed when you reach the plateau and face the snow-covered and steep slopes of Mount Kyllini.

This is how this mountainous landscape is “made”, which is a pioneer in the directness with which it demonstrates the wild beauty of the Greek mountainous regions to the visitor. In addition, the very small natural pond of Dasiou is ideal for some leisurely walks around the perimeter, among towering trees, snow-covered mountain peaks that seem so close to our eyes and sounds of a mountain that even today knows very well how to hide its secrets.

For nature lovers and climbers the gorge of Flambouritsa , between the small and large Ziria, is the best during their visit to the area, provided of course that they have the necessary experience for such activities, especially in winter when the weather in Mount Kyllini is not joking at all and can become dangerous if we have not taken all the necessary precautions. In recent years there is a cafeteria at the end of the road and to the left of the plateau and a lift on a slightly steep but small slope of the mountain for those who want to ski.
