Alpine getaways in the centre of Greece

Drowned in the green nature of the mountainous area of Koziacas, with a rich tourist infrastructure and a short distance from the urban center of Trikala, Elati is one of the most popular tourist winter destinations in Central Greece.

Access to Elati

Elati is located in the prefecture of Trikala and specifically just 32 km from the capital of the prefecture. Access from Trikala is very easy as the road leading there is easy, without many or difficult turns.

Elati is 360 km from Athens and 260 km from Thessaloniki . The village is built amphitheatrically on one of the fir-green slopes of Koziacas (Mount Kerketio), which is part of the southern part of the Pindos mountain range.

It is one of the most beautiful Greek mountain landscapes that reminds us of the postcards of the Alpine high and steep mountain peaks, the spectacular trees and the picturesque villages somewhere in between.

Perthoulion Ski Centre

The mountainous location, the village is built at about 950 meters, combined with the climate of the area make Elati a favorite winter destination for skiing, snowboarding and more.

During most of the winter season, the ski centre of Pertouli, which is located between the villages of Elati and Pertouli, operates just a few kilometres away. At a relatively low altitude between 1150 and 1370 metres, the ski centre has slopes for beginners and more experienced skiers.

Of course, apart from the ski resort and its slopes, visitors to Elati have plenty of options to spend their hours or rather their days there.

If you decide to stay exclusively in the village, you can walk through its picturesque streets and find one of the many spots that offer a unique view of the village itself and the beautiful landscape that surrounds it.

If you get tired of hiking, you will surely find a picturesque cafe to rest and relax with sounds that cover almost all musical tastes and if it’s time to eat then even better as the traditional tavernas offer delicious stews and dishes of the moment.

Finally, you should know that although winter is the season when Elati has the most visitors, in summer the village fills up again with people who want to see the green landscape and enjoy the coolness of the mountain.
