Edipsos and thermal baths

Edipsos has been a famous spa town since antiquity, mentioned even in Aristotle’s “Meteorology”, and was a favourite destination for the Roman Emperors. Although several centuries have passed since then, it has not lost its glamour and fame, which it owes to the existence of 80 thermal springs with waters whose temperature ranges from 28 to 86 degrees Celsius.
Of course it is not the temperature of the water that makes the difference but the presence of trace elements of calcium, magnesium and iron, making it ideal for fighting a variety of diseases such as rheumatism, arthritis, gynecological diseases, discopathies and many others. The visitors of Edipsos can take advantage of this divine gift by enjoying the services of the modern hydrotherapy centres that have been created in recent years as well as several luxury hotels.
North Evia
However, Edipsos can also be proud of its geographical location. This is none other than the endowed North Evia, an area ideal for holidays all year round as it combines the green of the mountains with the blue or the deep blue of the wonderful waters of the northern Evian Sea, both from the Aegean and from the side of Central Greece.

Get to know Edipsos
The coastal road of Edipsos (at the Edipsos Baths) is ideal for walking, and in summer it is forbidden to drive after sunset, with the sea on one side and the old mansions on the other. And if you get tired of walking you can sit in one of the many beach restaurants, cafes or coffee bars that offer their services to visitors.

In fact, in recent years, Edipsos has, several months of the year, proposals for intense nightlife as it is no longer a favorite destination not only for the elderly or those who need the thermal baths but also for young people who understand the value of the place and are increasingly visiting the largest spa town in Greece and one of the most famous in Europe.

Access and distances to Edipsos
The very easy access to Edipsos , which can be done in 3 ways, contributes to this.
- The easiest way is via Arkitsa, the small port in Central Greece and just opposite Edipsos. Distance from Athens is 150km and 1:30 to 2 hours, and it will take you another 50 minutes by boat.
- The second way is via Chalkida (2 to 2:30 hours). The advantages of this route are that you will see a large part of the landscapes of North Evia and some of Central Evia. On the downside are the several bends from Pascha and up to Mantoudi. The greenery of the route and the presence of the river Kireas in several places will make up for it.
- Finally, the third option for excursionists from Central or Northern Greece is to take the boat from Glyfa, on the border of Magnesia and Fthiotida and cross over to the picturesque fishing village of Agiokampos in Northern Evia. From there it will take you just 15 minutes to reach Edipsos.
