Agia Anna is a popular tourist destination in northern Evia mainly because of the large beach of the coastal settlement(Agkali) and the organized camping site that it has.(*) The main settlement is not located on the beach but on a gentle slope at an altitude of about 300 meters from the sea and is 6.3 kilometers from the coastal Agkali with its beautiful beach.

Agali, the beach of Agia Anna

The beach is located on the eastern side of northern Evia and is naturally bathed by the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea. That’s why when strong northerly or northeasterly winds blow in the area you will find a big wave, something that those who like to play with waves should love. Of course you need to be careful when the wave is big enough as, like most beaches in Evia (see beaches in South Evia) that “face” the Aegean Sea, the sea deepens quite steeply.

The beach of Agia Anna is a little less than 6 km long and in the first of these you will find several cafes, ouzerias and tavernas in summer to enjoy fresh fish or just relax from your trip or swim.

In addition, in Agkali you will find several rooms to let, some hotels and the large camping site, which has now been “converted” into Club Agia Anna Summer Resort where you do not need to pitch a tent as it has a bungalow. Moreover, inside the campsite there is a café bar with a swimming pool for those who don’t want to leave it almost at all!

Unfortunately after the devastating fires of August 2021, parts of the forest and some facilities have been partially or completely burnt or destroyed, check before you arrange a tour or stay in the area.

Agia Anna and excursions in North Evia

The village of Agia Anna as we mentioned is located a little further up and is built amphitheatrically on a hillside overlooking the Aegean Sea. It is the seat of the newly established municipality of Nileos and it is worth seeing it in person as well as visiting the folklore museum with the traditional costumes and tools of daily use of past centuries.

If you want to explore the surrounding area in northern Evia it is worth passing by the nearby traditional Achladi and swimming in its beautiful Aegean beach (the villages of Achladi – Agia Anna are 8 km away), walking in the gorge of Bulovitina (we have not visited it) or going a little further, in the heart of northern Evia and specifically to the Drimonas waterfalls (see photos) where in summer you can swim in the icy waters of the large pedestal formed by the waters of the large waterfall.

Accommodation in Agia Anna

As mentioned above, in Agia Anna you will find some hotels, camping sites and several rooms to let. You can check the available hotels in Agia Anna and Agali beach through booking.com – Agia Anna and read the hundreds of reviews of the area and its accommodation by visitors before making your choice.

Finally, if you want to completely change the scenery, 18 km from Agia Anna is the Lake Evia, the seaside settlement on the western side of northern Evia and specifically on the calm and windless northern Evia. You can also visit the waterfalls of Drimonas and Lake on the same day by following a perimeter route and thus enjoying more of the scenery that the beautiful northern part of Evia has to offer.

Access to Agia Anna Evia

Agia Anna is far from the capital of the island, Agia Anna. Chalkida72 km. The route is tiring in some parts due to continuous turns but it is worth it in most of its entirety especially in the part where the road goes parallel to the river Kireas (read and see the photos in the relevant link) and the green landscape that surrounds it.
